It’s been over a week since my last newsletter. The schools were off on halloween holidays so things were a little crazy here!
Thanks to everyone who has followed my newsletter - I appreciate you more than you know.
On this newsletter I want to touch upon building your online presence on LinkedIn. That’s where I’m building my personal brand.
Building an online audience/building a personal brand
Why do I do this? Why am I posting on LinkedIn?
Well, firstly let me touch on why I’m not doing it.
I’m not doing it because I want to talk about myself for the sake of talking about myself. I’m also not doing it for the likes and the followers. This stuff doesn’t pay the bills.
I’m doing it so more people know who I am. I am doing it for the attention, so I can create more working opportunities as well as build working relationships with others. I want to be more known so I can do more good work and help more people.
I’ve been posting on LinkedIn for over one year now and from doing this consistently more people now know who I am.
This has resulted in:
More relationships built
More meetings booked
More revenue made
My small business growing faster than expected
Be yourself
I don’t figure out content. I don’t sit each day thinking “what shall I post about?”
I do my best to just document my journey and to simply be myself.
When I first started posting on LinkedIn I wanted the likes and the followers. I used to post what I thought would sound cool and look popular. But now I’ve realised, I want the relationships and the opportunities.
I am more focused on who sees my content, and not how many people like my content.
For an example, I posted randomly the other night at 9:05pm on LinkedIn sharing that I was working. An owner of a small business seen the post, sent me a DM and we’re meeting via a zoom call next week.
Isn’t that just amazing?
My business is growing because I’ve understood that people just want to see me be me.
It’s not easy to be yourself, but when you get to that stage of confidence and caring less about the opinion of others - what a feeling it truly is.
Be yourself - everyone else is taken.
Ps. I launched my brand new online community. It has been built for small business owners as an option for more affordable sales support & business networking. So many people start a business for flexibility reasons, or they’re perhaps an expert in their field of work, but they don’t know how to sell because they were never taught sales. Selling isn’t easy, but it’s easier when you know how to do it.
